Pain Medication 

Anti-Depressants

For Doug in Scene 2 (Age 23: Eye Blown Out)

Emotional effects:
They can cause euphoria. However, they can also cause dizziness, confusion, and hallucinations.

Cognitive effects:
Studies have shown that opioids (the most common form of pain medication) can impair short-term and working memory. In large doses, it can also lead to drowsiness and lethargy.

​​Expected effects:
Increases seratonin levels in the brain, regulating mood and making depression and anxiety more manageable, though they don't totally take away related feelings. Most notably, they help clear the mind and increase motivation

Common Side Effects:
Note that most side effects wear off by ~6 weeks of taking the medication.
  • Stomach pain or nausea
  • Increase of suicide risk
  • irregular sleeping patterns
  • headache
  • decrease of sex drive
  • change in appetite
